One of the four patients that are resistant to the regular Tuberculosis drugs brought in the country is dead.

Madam Doris Lignon, 52 died Sunday at the TB Annex in Congo Town, outside Monrovia.

The Nursing Director at the annex told Star Radio Madam Lignon died because of her body had already broken down.

Martha Geain said the TB patient had lost hope that she could be cured from the regular treatment.

Authorities at the National Leprosy and Tuberculosis Control Program disclosed recently that they have registered four cases that are resisting the regular TB drugs.

Madam Geain re-assured that government, the World Health Organization and others were working tirelessly to bring the needed drugs in the country.

She however, said getting the drugs in the country is a process and that there was a need for the remaining three patients to exercise restraint.

Meanwhile, the remaining three patients suffering from the new strain of TB have called on government and WHO to fast track efforts at bringing the drugs in the country.

They attributed the death of Madam Doris Lignon to delay in ensuring the availability of the drugs.

The patients told Star Radio further delay to bring the drugs would suggest that they would die shortly as in the case of their colleague.
