The Police Training Academy has expelled a trainee for the Emergency Response Unit.

LNP Training Commandant James Hallowanger expelled the officer, whose name was withheld, for disorderly conduct.

Commissioner Hallowanger did not say the exact act committed by the officer but said it ran contrary to the ethics of the Police Training Academy.

Mr. Hallowanger told Star Radio, ERU officers carry fire arms and should be obedient and responsible people.

The Police Training Boss clarified that the officer remains with the LNP but will not form part of the ERU.

Mr. Hallowanger has recommended a careful observation of the officer by the central office to avoid recurrence of disorderly conduct.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hallowanger disclosed that about two hundred ERU officers have been trained.

The Academy is expected to train five hundred officers for the Emergency Response Unit.
