The Senate has finally passed into law a compromise version of the controversial population threshold bill

The Senate passed the bill at forty thousand provided no County has less than two representations in the House of Representatives.

The passage of the threshold bill came as a result of over five hours of closed doors discussions by the Senate.

The hours of discussions was followed by a motion by Bong County Senator Franklin Siakor for the passage of the bill.

Sixteen Senators voted for and nine against on the compromise motion by Senator Siakor.

A conference committee would now be set up to harmonize the two versions of the threshold bill passed by the both Houses.

The House earlier passed the bill at forty thousand without a condition.

Meanwhile, Grand Kru Senator Blamo says the decision of the Senate was intended to reduce political tensions the Country.

Grand Kru, River Cess and River Gee Counties would have been affected without the provision by the Senate.
