Liberia celebrates int’l ozone day Print E-mail

Liberia today joined countries the world over to celebrate International Ozone Day under the theme:  Montreal Protocol Brings Mutual Benefits.


The Head of the Ozone Unit at the Environmental Protection Agency said the celebration focused on educating institutions using chemicals and depletion substances.


Mr. Earl Neblet told Star Radio the education aimed at ensuring compliance with the Montreal Protocol, which highlights the protection of the environment.


Mr. Neblet said the EPA is working with relevant authorities to ensure its officers are posted at border points to identify and track substances that pose danger to the environment.


Meanwhile UN Secretary General Ban Ki moon has urged all countries to work together to implement
ozone and climate treaties.


Mr. Ban in a message said collective effort can ensure sustainable development and protection of the environment.
