The Chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Jerome Verdier says there’s a need to stabilize and resolve looming conflicts in Liberia.

Cllr. Verdier in a release called for the strengthening of the rule of law and the implementation of the Recommendations of the TRC as major steps.

Cllr. Verdier observed the resurgence of violence in Lofa and other areas points to the need for community-based dialogue.

He also said Volume II Chapter 10.10 of the TRC final report addressed some of the issues of looming conflict including Identity conflict and Land and property issues.

Cllr. Verdier warned if the issues are not addressed, they will serve as sources of future violent conflicts.

Meanwhile, Cllr. Verdier has recommended independent inquiries into the Lofa violence, capitol by-pass killing and mob action and the January 16 confrontation of police with students.

He wants all perpetrators prosecuted and innocent victims compensated.
