A draft Act seeking to establish the Liberia Marketing Association has suffered a setback at the House of Representatives.
The setback relates to the decision of the House to return the draft Act for additional Committee hearings.
The House took the decision after majority of its members objected to any attempt to hastily pass the bill.
Montserrado Representative Kuku Dorbor told the House the bill still needs to be reviewed in a public hearing because of protest by some founders of the LMA.
Representatives Evans Koah of Nimba and Dixon Yarsiah of Gbarpolu also expressed serious concerns over section 6 of the bill.
They argued that section 6 which provides for the LMA to take over all market structures through negotiation contravenes the Constitution.
However, the sponsor of the bill, Montserrado Representative Moses Tandapolie said it was in the best interest of the nation and marketers.
