A prominent son of Nimba County has called on residents of the county not to give credence to false rumors.
Judge James Zotaa said reacting to false rumors could spark trouble among the ethnic groups of Nimba.
Judge Zotaa’s statements come after a newspaper report that Nimba is on red alert.
Judge Zotaa who represented Nimba on the Constitutional Advisory Assembly of 1986, said such publication, if not investigated thoroughly, could create problem in Nimba.
He urged the seven main ethnic groups in the county to unite and live together peacefully.
Judge Zotaa described the newspaper publication as troubling and urged Nimbaians to be careful not to repeat the Lofa mistake, which left four people dead.
He called on the Nimba people to continue living together; adding all of the ethnic groups in Nimba equally owned the county.
Judge Zotaa also called on other prominent citizens of Nimba to speak on the issue to help reduce tension among the ethnic groups of the county.
