Executive Mansion: Al Karlay is Police Operations Chief Print E-mail

The Executive Mansion has clarified the appointment of Mr. Al Karlay.

In a release, the Executive Mansion said Mr. Karlay is the new Deputy for Operations at the Liberia National Police.

He replaces Col. Gayflor Tarpeh who served in the position for over four years.

Mr. Karlay was Deputy for Administration at the Police in 2006 but the President dismissed him in connection with a gasoline scandal.

It is not clear whether an investigation cleared him before his latest appointment by the President.

Our Judicial correspondent says there is no record to show whether Mr. Karlay was ever prosecuted.
