Several women groups on Thursday staged a sit-in action in front of the Temple of Justice in Monrovia.

Gender Minister Varbah Gayflor led the groups and the sit-in action is part of programs marking this year’s International Women’s Day.

Minister Gayflor said they want to draw the attention of the judiciary to the continued violence against women with impunity.

She said the women would present a formal statement to the Chief Justice highlighting some abuses against them and their children.

Minister Gayflor said they want the judicial system strengthened so that perpetrators of Gender Based Violence would be held accountable.

Our reporter covering the gathering at the Temple of Justice said the women are carrying several placards depicting anti violence messages.
