Women in Liberia have called for a gender sensitive environment that would give way for the investigation of all crimes of violence against them.

The women also called for speedy trial for perpetrators of violence against them especially after the request for assignment by lawyers defending victims.

The women spoke when they presented a special statement to Chief Justice Johnny Lewis during the celebration of International Women’s Day.

They called on the Chief Justice to work towards improving the judicial system through empowering judges and providing them logistics.

The women believe this would minimize the level of corruption in the judiciary.

They observed that the judiciary is a complete disappointment to common citizens seeking justice through the courts.

The placard-bearing women used this year’s celebration to stage a sit in action to draw the attention of the judiciary to their plight.
