we are a nation of multiculral societies Written by Dosii Smith, on 2007-03-11 17:09:59 The term nation has multiple meanings. In one sense it refers to a people with a single language, a common history, and a similar ethnic background. In the sense of nationality it relates to legal membership in a state, that is, citizenship. On the other hand, nation is defined more then by an intangible “national spirit” and emotional commitment than by cultural or ethnic homogeneity. In my opinion, I am a bite tentative to say that we do not have a cultural as Liberians. Because we do not have a single cultural language as compare to other African nations. In addition, we all are from different ethnic backgrounds and speak difference dialects. Talking about national spirit and emotional commitment towards Liberia, I am bite afraid to say that most Liberians their minds have not yet developed into that realm. However, the verisimilitude here is baseless, bottomless, groundless, idle, and unwarranted. It is presumptive that we are a nation of multicultural societies. A Liberian in the US. |
