The Liberian government says it would as of this week begin the payment of salaries to government employees for the month of March.

Assistant Information Minister for Information Services told the regular weekend press briefing the process was in continuation of salaries being paid to personnel of the security sector.

Mr. Gabriel Williams said this month’s disbursement exercise is an effort by government to regularize the payment of salaries to government workers.

In February, hundreds of ex-servicemen received months of arrears owed them by the government.

The deactivated security personnel however alleged government still owes them additional seventeen to eighteen months salary arrears respectively.
