The American Center for International Labor Solidarity says working condition at Firestone Rubber Plantation is terrible.

The Center’s program officer Neha Misra said workers at Firestone are not being treated fairly.

Madam Misra criticized Firestone’s system of tappers carrying latex on their backs in this modern era.

She wants the Firestone Management to improve the wages and living quarters of workers at the plantation.

Madam Misra and other members of her group have been conducting a series of workshops at Firestone to educate Union members about their rights.

But the dissolved workers union leadership says the workshops conducted by the American Center For International Labor Solidarity are illegal.

The vice president of the group said they were not informed about the conduct of the workshops.

Mr. Dogba Samuel told Star Radio the workshops are the making of the Labor Ministry.

Mr. Samuel said the workshops were aimed at making the union unpopular with the workers.
