The Superintendent of Margibi County says efforts are underway to provide minimum compensation for some illegal occupants around the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata.
Mr. Levi Piah said the International Football Federation, FIFA has agreed to construct a new stadium to meet international standards.
Mr. Piah said because of the construction work on the stadium, several houses that were illegally built in the stadium’s premises would be demolished.
He said about ten houses would be affected in the demolition exercise.
Mr. Piah said some of the occupants had already been relocated to other areas and those remaining there are being given a timeline to relocate.
He told Star Radio the new stadium would contain all facilities including a hotel for visiting teams.
