President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has embarked on a search for money stolen from the Liberia government and stored in foreign banks.

During her just ended four-nation visit, President Sirleaf asked foreign banks to check for such accounts.

Presidential Press Secretary Cyrus Wleh-Badio told reporters there’s a tendency for past government officials to deposit stolen money in foreign banks.

He said the banks have agreed to do the search.

Mr. Wleh-Badio said if such accounts were confirmed, government would exert all effort to have the money returned.
