The Board of the African Methodist University has suspended seven students who served as ringleaders of the mass students protest at the university.

The Chairman of the Board told a news conference the students are suspended for one semester.

The AMEU Students demonstrated last week against an eighty percent down payment of registration and tuition fees.

Bishop David Daniels said the students violated a provision of the handbook, which prohibits indiscipline behavior.

He said the board had also temporarily suspended the AMEU Students Scholarship program.

The AMEU Board Chairman said the eighty percent increment is not a new policy.

Bishop Daniels said students who cannot afford the eighty percent are advised to register for the amount of credit hours they can afford.
