A Star Radio investigation has for the first time established circumstances that led to the death of six Senegalese soldiers in Vahun, Lofa County.

The investigation established that policy difference between Senegalese troops assigned in Vahun and forces of the National Patriotic Front of Liberia led to a gun battle.

According to eyewitness accounts, the Senegalese’ continued humanitarian assistance to the local population provoked the fighting.

It was at this point that the rebel fighters reportedly called the attention of the Senegalese soldiers and informed them that they were not satisfied with them.

Minutes later, according to our sources gunfire broke out in the center of Vahun forcing Senegalese troops to retreat to the out sketch of the town.

At the close of the exchange, dead bodies reportedly scattered everywhere.
