Deputy Finance Minister for Revenue has warned business entities against conniving with revenue agents to evade taxes.

Madam Elfreda Tamba said any entity engaging in such practice would be harming itself as foreign auditors would come in to conduct audits.

She called on the entities to make all payments of their taxes to the Central Bank and report any harassment to the Finance Ministry.

Madam Tamba also challenged finance officials to be honest in their operations as the country cannot develop without domestic taxes.

She spoke at the opening of the Bushrod Island Collectorate of the Finance Ministry.

The collectorate is to maintain and update the tax roll and monitor tax compliance of businesses with yearly income of less than five million Liberian dollars.

Madam Tamba said education campaigns would be carried out on the importance of paying taxes and encouraged small businesses to adhere to the payment.

The Liberia Marketing Association, members of the Lebanese, Nigerian and Fula business communities attended the ceremony.
