The former President of World Lebanese Culture Union and prominent businessman George Haddad has been barred from traveling out of the country.

A credible source at the Roberts International Airport hinted Star Radio authorities of the Bureau of Immigration stopped Mr. Haddad and seized his Lebanese Passport.

When contacted, Immigration Commissioner Chris Massaquoi confirmed that Mr. Haddad was stopped at the RIA.

Commissioner Massaquoi did not give detail but said the immigration acted on the orders of the Ministry of Justice.

It can be recalled state security arrested Mr. Haddad at the RIA while returning to the country two weeks ago.

The government said his arrest was in connection with the 2004 iron ore deal during the transitional period.

Mr. Haddad was detained but later released to the Lebanese Ambassador to Liberia.

He was neither charged nor taken to court for whatever crime he may have committed in the purchase of the iron ore, which was sold by the transitional government.
