World Bank President Robert Zoellick says Liberia is at a key transitional point, moving from emergency to deeper stages of reforms.
Mr. Zoellick said good governance and the rule of law, the development of fiscal management and the private sector are important to the reform.
He said the bank was putting in place measures to run an open process and build transparency to ensure the impact of its projects is felt.
Mr. Zoellick said he is impressed with the level of work done in Liberia but cautioned that there are still a lot of challenges.
He told a media round table; President Sirleaf has named the building of foundation for social development, education and health as priorities.
The World Bank’s President assured that the bank would start some investments in the areas of priorities.
President Sirleaf commended the World Bank for the continuous support to the country’s reform, especially the road project.
Madam Sirleaf however, called for more in the areas of employment and expanding of activities for empowerment.
