President Bush arrives in Liberia Print E-mail

United States President George Bush has arrived in Liberia for a one-day official visit.
 

President Bush was greeted at the James Spriggs Payne Airfield by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and an array of government officials.
 

Ambassadors of foreign missions accredited near Monrovia, members of the civil society, traditional leaders and students were at the airport to meet the 62-year old U.S. President.
 

President Bush and party have proceeded to the Foreign Ministry where Mayor Ophelia Hoff-Saytumah presented the symbolic keys of the city to him.
 

Presidents Bush and Sirleaf will also hold discussions at President Sirleaf’s temporary foreign Ministry office on bilateral issues between the two countries. 
 

President Sirleaf later confer highest state honor, the Most Venerable Order of Knighthood of the Pioneers of the Republic of Liberia on President Bush.
 

President Bush will also receive from the Liberian President the Gold Chain Collar of State, an honor reserved only for exceptional world leaders.
 

The Investiture ceremony will take place at the Parlors of the Executive Mansion.
