The leader of the group advocating the establishment of a war crime tribunal in Liberia has been arrested.

Police authorities confirmed Mulbah Morlu was picked up for questioning but did not disclose the nature of the issue.

Earlier, Star Radio received a text message that Morlu was arrested for sabotage and hindering law enforcement.

Mr. Morlu described the allegation as fake and fabricated.

His group, the Forum for the Establishment of War Crime Tribunal in Liberia believes only a war crime court would end the vicious circle of violence in Liberia.

The government disagrees with the group and maintains the truth commission is the best option for durable in the country.

The group had announced a planned demonstration during the visit of President Bush to push its advocacy for the establishment of a war crime in Liberia

Following the announcement, the Police issued a stern warning that no one would be allowed to stage a demonstration during the visit of the American President.

Morlu and members of his group displayed symbolic caskets during the visit of former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in 2007.

Mr. Annan told the forum the international community would only honor a request from the government of Liberia, seeking the establishment of a war crime court.

Ellen\'s Democracy

Democracy! Democracy! Democracy! Democracy!
President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf should be ashamed of her government and herself because of their failure to uphold the value of democracy for which they claim to stand. The president and her government entirely support the war crimes court of Sierra Leone which is prosecuting our ex president so there is no reason to pay a deaf-ear to establishing such court in Liberia. Mr. Morlu and other Liberians who have seen the need to prosecute all of those who unleashed havoc on the nation and its people should be commanded and applauded and not arrested for trying to make their case heard by an influential and powerful person like the president of the USA. "Peaceful demostration" is the most world-acceptable tool used to express concerns. Mr. Morlu should have been arrestend if only his planned demostration had resulted into violence. Democracy is not a one sided thing and should not therefore applied only in the need to get raid of our enemies. Let's learn to live by what we believe and preach.

We are probably not in the new era as we taught, in a democratic society peaceful free expression is a right and should be respected.
