The leader of the group advocating the establishment of a war crime tribunal in Liberia has been released without explanation from the government.

Police arrested Mulbah Morlu upon the arrival of U.S. President George Bush in the country.

Earlier, Star Radio received a text message that Morlu was arrested for sabotage and hindering law enforcement.

Mr. Morlu described the allegation as fake and fabricated.

His group, the Forum for the Establishment of War Crime Tribunal in Liberia believes only a war crime court would end the vicious circle of violence in Liberia.

The government disagrees with the group and maintains the truth commission is the best option for durable in the country.

The group had announced a planned demonstration during the visit of President Bush to push its advocacy for the establishment of a war crime in Liberia

Following the announcement, the Police issued a stern warning that no one would be allowed to stage a demonstration during the visit of the American President.

Morlu and members of his group displayed symbolic caskets during the visit of former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in 2007.

Mr. Annan told the forum the international community would only honor a request from the government of Liberia, seeking the establishment of a war crime court.
