The Ivorian government has denied a state request to allow two senior Ivorian army officers come to Liberia to testify in the treason trial.
The Ivorian Foreign Ministry said the country’s laws prohibit the movement of Ivorians to foreign countries to testify especially in a treason case.
The Ivorian government also said it took into consideration the rank and position of the military officials wanted by the Liberian government.
The Ivorian government however suggested the constitution of a commission to go to Cote d’Ivoire to take the testimonies of the men.
Since government’s only insider witness Junior Gaye testified nearly a month ago, it has not been able to produce another witness in court.
Meanwhile, Judge Peter Gbayneewleh has fined Montserrado County Attorney Samuel Jacobs a hundred United States Dollars for failing to appear in court Tuesday Morning.
Judge Gbayneewleh said the absence of state lawyers without any notice was a gross disrespect to the court.
