Global Giving is an on-line marketplace which allows people to donate to international projects that appeal to their interests and STAR radio is now a Global Giving project! This means that our American supporters may now make tax-deductible donations to STAR.
Humanity United gives STAR radio generous grant
One of our top goals this year at STAR radio is to
broaden our base of support to include new types of donor and partners from
different countries. This was achieved
this year when Global Giving (www.globalgiving.com)
agreed to our request to include STAR Radio on its internet platform which
allows individuals to fund international
projects of interest, and for Americans to donate on a tax-free basis. Since we posted a project description on
Global Giving four months ago, STAR Radio has earned a total of $3,000 donated
by a dozen individuals. We learned recently that Humanity United, a
grant-making organization based in California, will donate $130,000 to STAR
Radio in Liberia through the Global Giving site. Many
thanks to Global Giving and Humanity United for their generous support to STAR
radio!
Blah links Taylor to Sierra Leone's civil war
Written by Julius Kanubah

Former President Moses Blah has directly linked Charles Taylor to the bloody civil war in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Blah linked the ex-Liberian leader to the Sierra Leonean conflict during the first day of his testimony.
Mr. Blah confirmed prosecution’s allegation that Mr. Taylor supported rebels who committed atrocities in Sierra Leone.
He revealed that he personally met the late RUF commander Foday Sankoh in Gbarnga Bong County.
Mr. Blah said during the meeting, Sankoh complained to him that the boys sent by Taylor to participate in the Sierra Leonean conflict were committing atrocities.
Mr. Blah said he later engaged Charles Taylor on the complaint by Foday Sankoh.
According to him, after the engagement, Taylor told him the war was not bread and butter.
A Liberian journalist covering the trial said Mr. Blah did not look in the face of Mr. Taylor throughout his testimony although Mr. Taylor was calm.
