Global Giving is an on-line marketplace which allows people to donate to international projects that appeal to their interests and STAR radio is now a Global Giving project! This means that our American supporters may now make tax-deductible donations to STAR.
Humanity United gives STAR radio generous grant
One of our top goals this year at STAR radio is to
broaden our base of support to include new types of donor and partners from
different countries. This was achieved
this year when Global Giving (www.globalgiving.com)
agreed to our request to include STAR Radio on its internet platform which
allows individuals to fund international
projects of interest, and for Americans to donate on a tax-free basis. Since we posted a project description on
Global Giving four months ago, STAR Radio has earned a total of $3,000 donated
by a dozen individuals. We learned recently that Humanity United, a
grant-making organization based in California, will donate $130,000 to STAR
Radio in Liberia through the Global Giving site. Many
thanks to Global Giving and Humanity United for their generous support to STAR
radio!

Former transitional Chairman Gyude Bryant, former Speaker Edwin Snowe and three others are expected to appear before Judge Samuel Geevon-Smith at the Criminal Court 'C' on Friday.
Mr. Bryant will appear with four former officials of his transitional regime for economic crimes.
They include former Speaker Edwin Snowe, Senator Richard Divine, Siaka Sherriff and Andy Quamie.
Government jointly indicted the men last Friday for allegedly embezzling nearly a million United States Dollars from the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company.
Episcopal Bishop Jonathan Hart asked for their temporary release, until they get their bail bond ready.
This is the second indictment against Mr. Bryant who was last year detained for disrespecting a court precept.
Meanwhile, the trial of some former government officials indicted for economic crimes is expected to begin next Monday.
Former Finance Minister Lusene Kamara, Tugbeh Doe, and Pyne Wollo are in that group.
