Global Giving is an on-line marketplace which allows people to donate to international projects that appeal to their interests and STAR radio is now a Global Giving project! This means that our American supporters may now make tax-deductible donations to STAR.
Humanity United gives STAR radio generous grant
One of our top goals this year at STAR radio is to
broaden our base of support to include new types of donor and partners from
different countries. This was achieved
this year when Global Giving (www.globalgiving.com)
agreed to our request to include STAR Radio on its internet platform which
allows individuals to fund international
projects of interest, and for Americans to donate on a tax-free basis. Since we posted a project description on
Global Giving four months ago, STAR Radio has earned a total of $3,000 donated
by a dozen individuals. We learned recently that Humanity United, a
grant-making organization based in California, will donate $130,000 to STAR
Radio in Liberia through the Global Giving site. Many
thanks to Global Giving and Humanity United for their generous support to STAR
radio!
Liberty Party nullifies 'Political Officer' Post
Written by Wellington Geevon Smith
Friday, 16 May 2008
The opposition Liberty Party has nullified the post of Political Officer in the party’s structure.
The post was being occupied by Isaac Jackson, the man who has politically differed with the party’s former Standard-bearer, Charles Brumskine.
The party in a statement called on Mr. Jackson to no longer consider himself the Political Officer and must refrain from making public statement on behalf of the party.
The party said it was restructuring to be more activity-orientated and engender greater participation of all its resourceful individuals.
But in reaction, Mr. Isaac Jackson described as shock the party’s latest action, saying it did not come as a surprise.
Mr. Jackson told Star Radio the party’s latest action shows the level of incompetence of Mr. Brumskine and others to settle political differences.
He described as unfortunate, the Liberty Party’s decision to cancel a position due to differences with the person occupying the position.
