Woods outlines Liberia's labor challenges Print E-mail

The Minister of Labour has told the United Steel Workers Convention that Liberia faces daunting challenges despite its gains on Labour reforms.


Minister Samuel Woods identified the challenges as unemployment, occupational health and safety as well as institutional capacity.
 

Minister Woods said government has ensured that new national employment policies are designed and a single national labour center established.
 

He told the forum Liberia now has a national tripartite committee to enhance social dialogue between workers, employers and government.
 

Minister Woods spoke at the United Steel Workers Convention held in Las Vegas in the United States.
 

The Firestone Workers Union received Liberia’s first International Workers Award at the convention.
