Report reaching Star Radio says the Secretary General of the opposition National Patriotic Party, John Francis Whitfield has been arrested
Star Radio gathered Mr. Whitfield is being arrested in connection with statement he made Thursday morning that he is keeping an arm for his personal protection.
Speaking at a local radio station, Mr. Whitfield said publicly he was in possession of an arm for self-defense in the wake of raging armed robberies in the country.
Mr. Whitfield however, did not say whether he registered his arm with government to be recognized as legitimate carrier of a fire arm.
