Injured Lone Star Captain Murphy Nagbe has finally left the country for treatment in Senegal.

The Lone Star captain left the country Sunday and will go under the knife by Tuesday.

Murphy Nagbe will see the screws removed from his injured left foot by a specialist in Dakar, Senegal.

The player raised contention over his departure for the West African state after he claimed abandonment by football authorities.

But officials from both the Lone Star Fund Drive Committee and the Ministry of Youth and Sports reacted and promised to fund the player’s trip.

Minutes before his departure, Murphy Nagbe told Star Radio he was grateful to all those who are helping to see him recover early.

Speaking via mobile phone, the injured defender said he was hopeful his recovery and rehabilitation would begin in the next two weeks.

Murphy Nagbe broke his left football during Liberia’s 3-1 away defeat to Senegal on June 21.
