Liberia’s Anthony Laffor has made history in his first major encounter for his new club.
Anthony Laffor came on as a second half substitute and scored the match winner for Supersport United in the MTN 8 Knockout Competition.
Supersport United bet Orlando Pirates 2-1 at the Johannesburg Stadium Friday night.
According to Supersport website, a dramatic eight minutes from time strike by Laffor earned the club a place in the semi final of the competition.
Laffor, who was signed by United coach Gavin Hunt in the off-season rewarded his new coach by scoring with a first time rocket.
The Liberian international collected a pin point cross from his captain Ricardo Katza in the 82nd minute and his shot flew past Senzo Meyiwa in the Pirates goal.
Laffor was the hero in Supersport victory after the club conceded in the eight minute of the match.
Supersport United drew level with Ethiopian striker Fikru Teferra's bicycle kick in the 21st minute.
Laffor signed a three year deal with the South African league champions’ and is expected to help the club win the African Champions League.
