The Liberia Football Association has fined twelve clubs twenty thousand Liberian Dollars each.

The LFA placed the fine on teams that have boycotted the ongoing national football championships

According to the Secretary General of the FA George Williams the decision to fine the clubs was in line with the rules of the football house.

Mr. Williams said the clubs involved have been acknowledged about the FA decision.

The LFA Secretary also said other punitive measures would be taken against those clubs that boycotted pending the LFA Executive Committee ruling.

Commenting on the representation of clubs during the upcoming August 23 Congress, the Secretary said the clubs not playing in the league could be could be considered.

Mr. George Williams announced during the Sports Writers Association Herbert Grisby Memorial Lecture series last month that clubs boycotting the league would not take part in the congress.

He argued that the clubs illegally withdrew from the league bridging a portion of the LFA statue.

But Williams said the FA Executive Committee is coming to a compromise to reduce the penalty against the clubs.

Over ten clubs boycotted the LFA ongoing National League stating that they were not fairly treated by the football governing body.

The clubs requested among several things a sponsor for the national league which they claimed were not addressed when the FA started the league.
