The murder case involving detained Margibi Senator Roland Kaine and others has been transferred to the First Judicial Circuit Court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia.

Defense lawyers are said to have asked for the transfer of the case to Montserrado County.

According to Margibi County Attorney Frank Oberly the defense lawyers cited several reasons, including local prejudice, for their request.

Our judicial correspondent said the case is probably still in transit because Criminal Court ‘A’ has not confirmed receipt.

Senator Roland Kaine and sixteen others are in detention in connection with the June 7 Kolleh Town massacre in which more than 14 men were killed.

The Kolleh Town massacre was a result of a dispute over a farmland located between Margibi and Grand Bassa counties.

While the case was being pre-tried, the state prayed for the constitution of a special jury which indicted the men in Margibi County.
