A sister of slain civil engineer Robert Phillips says former Police Director Wilfred Clarke told her brother to implicate Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to the November 12, 1985 abortive invasion.
Rev. Roberta Phillips said she and her mother received a secrete letter from the late Robert from his Post Stockade detention cell.
She said Mr. Philips informed them how Mr. Clarke, compelled him while being tortured to name Madam Sirleaf as one of the key architects of the failed invasion.
Rev. Phillips testified Thursday at the ongoing Institutional and Thematic Public Hearings of the truth commission in Monrovia.
She said Mr. Phillips informed them in the letter that Mr. Clarke threatened to kill him if he did not link the then opposition politician to the coup.
Rev. Philips explained her brother was brutally murdered on January 4, 1990.
She said death squads of the AFL also killed their mother Madam Georgia Coleman, uncle, her 16 year-old daughter and other relatives and friends.
Rev. Philips said the soldiers broke into the house under the cover of darkness and marched the victims out for execution.
