Force Commanders from UN Missions in the West African sub-region have ended the 16th Regional Inter-Mission Conference in Liberia.

UNMIL Acting Force Commander Maj. Gen. Carl Modey said the conference discussed peace and security in the region.

Maj. Gen. Modey said joint military patrols would continue by UN forces at border points in Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

He told reporters the measure is intended to ensure that no illegal cross-border activity compromises the security of states within the region.

Maj. Gen. Modey named some of the common cross border activities as arms and drug trade.
