Health Minister Dr. Walter Gwenigale says retiring employees at the ministry was a difficult decision.

Dr. Gwenigale said the retirees, some of whom have served the ministry over forty years, were very instrumental in delivering health services to the people.

Dr. Gwenigale said although many staff were retired, the ministry still needs more health workers throughout the country.

The Health and Social Welfare Minister said some of those retired would be recalled on a contract basis to serve the ministry.

He noted that every clinic in the country needs a minimum of one midwife to cater to pregnant women.

Dr. Gwenigale spoke Thursday when the Health and Social Welfare Ministry retired one hundred ninety-three employees for long years.
