A two-day workshop on the roles and duties of women in policing has entered its second day in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.
It brings together security personnel, community members and Non-governmental organizations.
The workshop organized by the African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect is sponsored by UNIFEM.
The workshop is training participants on the protection of women’s rights and understanding key concepts or gender based violence.
The Manager of the ANPPCAN called on women to break the circle of silence by reporting violations of sexual-based violence.
Mr. Alvin Winford said the first day of the workshop targeted twenty officers of the Liberia National Police, Immigration and Bureau of Corrections.
He said at the end of the workshop, ANPPCAN would prevails on its donors to provide the requite logistics to the security to help address women’s issues.
Mr. Winford cautioned parents, especially women to desist from compromising rape and sexual violence issues that are rampant in rural Liberia.
