Defense lawyers in the murder case involving Senator Roland Kaine have accused the state of seizing the files containing the transfer documents of the case.
The Defense team alleged the Justice Ministry ordered the Sheriff of the 13th Judicial Circuit Court not to take the files to Criminal Court A.
According to Attorney Africanus Gabriel, Criminal Court ‘A’ has confirmed that it has not received the documents.
Attorney Gabriel at a news conference Friday said the defense team is contemplating a number of measures to expose what he called the Justice Ministry’s act.
Early this week, the County Attorney of Margibi confirmed the transfer of the case.
Solicitor General Tiawan Gongloe denied diverting the documents and said such documents are sent from court to court.
Cllr. Gongloe said the Justice Ministry has no interest in tampering with cases.
Senator Kaine and 14 others are in detention for their role in the Timor District massacre in which more than 16 people were killed.
