A Liberian historian says the country’s quest for quality education   has died out since the onset of the war.

Dr.  Joseph Saye Guanu said Liberian students are no longer being taught nationalism in school.

He said there is a problem with the country’s educational system owing to the shortage of text books in schools.

Dr. Guanu said students are to learn from text books and not copy books.

He described the celebration of the Flag Day as significant to all Liberians.

Professor Guannu told Star Radio the first Flag in the colonial era had thirteen stripes with a white cross in the middle.

He said the thirteen stripe flag was later   replaced by the current flag with a lone star in the far left hand corner.
