The president warned people with hundreds of acres of land without
Development will have to give up some land to government.

Madam Sirleaf however assured government would only use the power when the need arises.

Under the constitution, government can take ownership of private land for public use accompanied by just compensation.

At the same time, President Sirleaf has assured Liberians that measures are being put in place to address the growing wave of land disputes.

She spoke of the setting up of the land commission which will set guidelines governing the acquisition of land in the Country.

President Sirleaf’s statements were in response to concerns by the citizens of Marshall that their land was being taken on ethnic grounds.

They spoke during a town hall meeting in Marshall City on Saturday.
