The Secretary General of the Press Union of Liberia says President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and the TRC should not submit to the temptation of appearing in camera.
Mr. Peter Quaqua said the President’s public appearance before the TRC would legitimize what happens at the TRC.
Mr. Quaqua said those calling for the president to appear in secret are not protecting her but rather exposing her to more public debates and suspicion.
The PUL Secretary General said to suggest that the president will be booed is to declare that she’s guilty of something which may not be the case.
He argued that the president has a story to tell and should not be confused by anyone or group of individuals.
According to Mr. Quaqua Liberians should not set the stage for the findings of the TRC to be contested which could set the basis for another conflict.
