President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has lauded the Libyan leader for the rice production program his country has embarked upon in Liberia.

President Sirleaf said the program would go a long way in strengthening government’s initiative aimed at self-sufficiency in rice production.

The Liberian leader also informed Col. Muamar Kaddafi of the steady progress being made toward the construction of a vocational and technical school in Virginia.

The two leaders also discussed strategies for promoting the vision of the African Union being spearheaded by the Libyan leader.

Col Kaddaf pledged his government’s willingness to support all African countries to positively respond to the food crisis.

President Sirleaf and party arrived in Libya Monday afternoon and were met by senior Libyan government officials.

In a related development, a ten-man delegation representing the Traditional council of Liberia has arrived in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

The delegation would   participate in the September 1, 1969 Revolution that brought Col. Kaddafi to power.

The delegation would join traditional council members from other African countries invited by the Libyan government to observe the occasion.
