The leader of the defunct Independent National Patriotic Front of Liberia has for the first time revealed that the body of slain President Samuel Doe was burnt to ashes.

Mr. Prince Johnson, now Senator of Nimba County told the TRC hearing on Tuesday the burnt body was thrown into a river at his former Caldwell base.

Senator Johnson explained that Doe was arrested at the Freeport of Monrovia where he had gone to meet the command of ECOMOG.

He said the late President and bodyguards violated a truce that called for officials from one territory to give prior notice before visiting another.

According to Senator Johnson, he ordered his INPFL forces to open fire on Doe’s bodyguards and during the gun battle the late President was wounded.

Senator Johnson said the late President was taken to the Caldwell base of the INPFL, where he was interrogated and subsequently killed.

He said the body of President Doe was exhumed months after it was speculated that he had no grave.

Senator Johnson said the INPFL through suggestions from Gen. Samuel Varney reached the decision not to rebury but to burn the body.

Senator Prince Johnson open confession
Written by Robert Johnson, on 2008-08-27 05:50:32
Thanks to Senator Prince Johnson, for his open confession of murdering the late president of Liberia. The T.R.C. is doing a good job. We have come too far in understanding the reason why the civil war took place. Senator Johnson confession to capital crime such as Murder should be look into as a possible cause for the destruction of Liberia.

Questions,
Did the death of president Samuel K. Doe end the war in Liberia? or is Prince Johnson guilty of a crime?
Lived by the sword?

It's looks to me like all these guys lived by the sword and nearly all have died by the sword. Excluding the kids they swayed to commit these enormities, most-if not all- of those at the leadership level have all died. I guess what I am saying is, with all these bloody coups and war, didn’t the perpetrators know that if one kills another for power, someone else is going to kill him later for the same power then, on and on it becomes a pattern? Now is the time to show the 'Now' generation that there is another way for one to ascend to power- education, honest leadership, hard work, then get hired, elected or appointed; not by killing others.
