A small group of protesters Friday assembled at the National Legislature calling for an end to the Lahai Lassana leadership of the Senate.

The protesters mainly youths between the ages of 12 and 25 gathered under the banner of the Patriotic Consciousness Association of Liberia.

In their statement, PACA Chairman Frederick Baye described the Lahai Lassana’s leadership of the Senate as illegal and likened it to a junta.

Mr. Baye called for a boycott of all activities of the senate by Liberians and foreign partners until the Supreme Court renders its opinions in the matter.

The President of the Senate Vice President Joseph Boakai who received the statement assured that the petition would be looked into by the Senate.

Vice President Boakai said the Senate as a lawmaking institution would ensure that its affairs are conducted in accordance with the laws.
