The leadership of Sinoe County has clarified that there was no death in last week’s crisis at the Sinoe Rubber Company.

The Superintendent and the Legislative Caucus of the county said they were informed during a mass citizens’ meeting that the situation was ugly but nobody died.

The Chairman of the Sinoe Legislative Caucus said the leadership put in place measures to restore sanity to the SRC and create a conductive working environment.

According to Senator Mabuto Nyepan, the leadership requested personnel of the UN mission to temporarily takeover the plantation.

Senator Nyepan also told Star Radio, all operations at the SRC have been stopped until proper arrangement is put in place for work to resume at the plantation.

He said the leadership further urged all national security agencies and UNMIL to ensure that the perpetrators of last week’s violence are brought to justice.

Violence erupted last week at the Sinoe Rubber Company following a long-running conflict over the management of the plantation.
