Associate Professor Alhaji Kromah has disclosed plans for the setting up of a five million U.S. dollar stabilization fund at the University of Liberia.
A release said the proposed stabilization fund is intended to increase faculty benefits and subsidize student tuition at the university.
Professor Kromah said he has begun consultation with a number of his faculty colleagues to whom the draft document would soon be presented.
He said the money would be raised over the next three years with support from the international donor community, multilateral agencies and friendly nations.
According to Professor Kromah, the UL authorities would administer the fund under a special arrangement involving the faculty and students.
The University of Liberia has a student enrollment of over fifteen thousand but faculty members of the institution say they are seriously underpaid.
