President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is by now meeting with Senator Prince Johnson, Representative Zoe Pennon and Minister Jackson Doe.
The meeting is to look into the bitter exchanges that resulted following the appearance of Senator Johnson at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Presidential Press Secretary Cyrus Wleh Badio told Star Radio the President has already spoken to the three men, urging them to tone down the exchanges.
According to Mr. Wleh-Badio, President Sirleaf will play a mediatory role to foster reconciliation after the bitter conflict during which Liberians harmed each other.
He said the President believes the exchanges are not healthy for the reconciliatory process which the TRC seeks to promote.
Former rebel leader Johnson whose forces captured and killed President Doe told the truth commission the President’s body was burnt and thrown in the river.
The revelation prompted a harsh reaction from Representative Pennoh and Mr. Jackson Doe who is a brother of the slain President.
Meanwhile, a Nimba County Representative has warned against treating confessions at the ongoing TRC hearings to fuel conflict in Liberia.
Representative Edwin Gaye described as totally wrong the act by some Liberians to negatively take-up issues with people testifying before the TRC.
Representative Gaye mainly spoke against the recent outburst of confusion between Senator Prince Johnson and Representative Zoe Pennoh.
Lawmaker Pennoh had accused ex-rebel leader Gen. Prince Johnson of eating the body of slain President Samuel Doe, a claim the Senator rejected.
Representative Gaye told Star radio there was a need for people, especially lawmakers to be professional in responding to testimonies at the TRC.
The Nimba County District #7 Representative also called for a reconciliation conference between the people of Nimba and Grand Gedeh.
