The Ministry of Labour says it has initiated an apprenticeship program to train unskilled Liberians.

Labor Minister Samuel Woods said the unemployment rate in the country is high because most people are unskilled.

He said government would continue to promote the apprenticeship program to prepare Liberians for the job market.

The Labor Minister spoke when a delegation of the ministry toured several business entities to interact with the workers and employers.

The Chief Executive Officer of the City Builders said he spends nearly fifty thousand U.S. dollars in every six month to train apprentice workers.

Mr. Ezzat Eid told the Labor Ministry delegation more than fifty apprentice workers have benefited from various skills training.
