A survey conducted by Fondation Hirondelle and UNICEF has revealed that the Sierra Leone Broadcasting System, UN Radio, BBC and CTN radio are the most listened to radio stations in Sierra Leone.

According to the survey, radio is the most reliable source of information for seventy-seven percent of respondents of that country.

The survey further established that the most monitored language on radio in Sierra Leone are Krio, Mende, Temne and English.

Regarding the print media, the survey identified the Awoko, Concord Times, Awareness Times, Standard Times and For Di People newspapers are the most read titles.

Fondation Hirondelle believed radio in particular plays a key role in the development process of Sierra Leone.

A statement issued by the Fondation said radio is a major channel for influencing behavior patterns of people in the West African state.
