Despite protests from civil society, the Senate has confirmed Cllr. Frances Johnson Morris and three other nominees of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
The confirmation was performed Thursday following a hurriedly prepared report by the Committee on Public Corporations and Autonomous Commissions.
Acting Senate Pro Temp Lahai Lassana told reporters after a secret session of the body, that the senate thought it expedient to confirm the nominees.
Cllr. Frances Johnson Morris and her fellow nominees earlier Thursday appeared for confirmation hearing after the process was disrupted Wednesday.
During the hearing, Cllr. Morris failed to respond to two of the nine counts laid out by the CDC against her confirmation.
One of the counts included, endangering the lives of opposition politicians after linking them to a plot to overthrow the government of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
Cllr. Morris told the hearing that her past performance has no bearing on her independence as chairperson of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Other confirmed nominees of the Anti Corruption Commission include Sandra Howard-Kender, Moulai Reeves and Ousman Kanneh.
